I EAT MEAT

HEY YALL!! So there has been some confusion as of late so I just wanted to clear things up. I AM NOT A VEGAN. I AM NOT A VEGETARIAN. Now before I get into my diet I will say that I am 10000000% supportive of vegans, vegetarians as I believe the environmental impact that lifestyle has on the world is truly incredible and important. I do tend to eat vegan/vegetarian some days as I believe a diet in variety is what works best for my body. On THAT note. I will share a few things I’ve learned along the way about food and nutrition.

First of all, I THINK DIETS ARE STUPID. If there was a type more aggressive than caps lock I would use it. Diets that restrict entire food groups/macronutrients are a recipe for disaster and while they might get you “slim quick” they ultimately lead to burnout and a resulting weight gain that is typically greater than the weight you started at.

Secondly, wha your body needs for fuel is specific to YOU. Some people are grain free, some people are dairy free, some people swear by juicing, some people are meat free, the list goes on and on and I can GUARANTEE you that if you talk to any of those people they will try to tell you that they have find the ONE TRUE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIGHT. Food trends are like a damn cult these days. The truth is that while that lifestyle may have worked for them, it might not work for you. What you need to do is take TIME and learn what makes YOU feel good and what makes YOU feel bad.

For me personally, I have found that dairy, red meat, and grains after 3pm do not make me feel good. I eat a lot of vegetables (sweet potato, onions, peppers, are my fav) fruits (avocados, bananas, blackberries are my go to) nuts (cashews are life) chicken (organic free range only- I get mine here) fish (sushiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii….I literally only eat fish when I eat sushi cuz I’m too lazy to learn how to cook it at home)

NOW. Although everybody’s bodies respond differently to different foods I CAN give you a general guidelines if you don’t know where to start. The simplest rule: EAT WHOLE FOODS. Buy actual real fruits and vegetables and cook with them. DO NOT BUY PRE PACKAGED FOODS OMG. You will save so much money buying fresh produce whenever possible and it’s so much better for your body. Buy real organic meat (if you eat meat). For my fellow meat eaters it is SO IMPORTANT that you do not compromise on your quality of meat. Generic meat is filled so so much crap. There are so many studies showing the dangers of non organic meat consumption. Buy FRESH FRUITS….like the stuff that grows from the ground not the fruit juice that tells you its giving you 2.5 servings of fruit when its really just pumping you with as much sugar as soda.

My last rant: Don’t buy diet foods. Low fat, sugar free, low cal, etc. All that stuff is GARBAGE unless its naturally sugar free, fat free, low cal. If it’s too good to be true it probably is. Pre packaged diet foods are filled with artificial sweeteners and fillers that ultimately do more harm to your body, lack essential nutrients and reprogram your tastebuds to actual crave sugar/fat even MORE. If it’s sweetened with a natural sweetener like stevia, monk fruit or something that occurs in nature that’s fine but dear lord do not go near things like splenda/sweet and low. Also - you don’t need to be afraid of fat and calories, that’s what gives you energy to you know like live and stuff. Just don’t eat TOO MUCH fat or TOO MANY calories aka don’t binge just eat until your satiated it’s that simple.

I think too many times we look for a magic way out. We want someone to do all the work for us and tell us exactly what we need to do when often times we already know the answer. Listen to your body and use wisdom. You are intelligent enough to know if a milkshake makes you feel bloated and sluggish. You are intelligent enough to know if a sweet potato gives you sustainable energy. The problem is that we often just don’t want to hear what our body is telling us because it’s inconvenient.
